Highlights
These highlights have been specially picked for this themed itinerary:
Meditation Class, Thimphu
Bhutan’s untouched culture is very much rooted in the teachings of Mahayana Buddhism – about 75% of the country’s population practices it. Meditation has long been a central pillar of the Buddhist religion, so there is no better place to learn the basics than in Bhutan’s capital city.
Uma by COMO, Punakha
A lodge situated in the lush Punakha Valley, the Uma mixes classical elegance with Bhutanese design to create wonderfully decadent accommodation. Set in a Bhutanese rural idyll amongst rice paddies and orchards – every room has sweeping views of these incredible surroundings.
Rafting, Paro
Bhutan boasts six crystal clear rivers – they offer both a thrilling white-water ride and the opportunity to get out and explore Bhutan’s untouched wilderness. Each river has a variety of white-water levels, so whether you are a complete beginner or a rafting pro, there will be somewhere that you can take to the water.
Hike to Tiger’s Nest, Paro
Bhutan’s best known monastery, Tiger’s Nest can only be reached on foot. Hiking up through the Paro Valley, passing fragrant forest, viewpoints (perfect to catch your breath!) and lines of colourful prayer wheels, you’ll spot the monastery long before you reach it, perched precariously on a ledge halfway up a cliff face.
